Poggiridenti is the smallest town of the province of Sondrio, with an area of only 2,93 sq. km, and is nestled among the vineyards between Montagna in Valtellina and Tresivio. This is where some of the most renown red wines come from: Valtellina Superiore DOCG and Inferno. The town once was a feud of the Pendolasco family.

As a matter of fact, its ancient name was Pendolasco and was changed to Poggiridenti in 1930. Its religious buildings are definitely worth a visit: the Church of Our Lady of mount Carmel, built between 1648 and 1789 with its baroque style, the Parish Church of Saint Fidelis built on a bump that allows visitors to enjoy a panoramic view over the

valley and the Oratory of Christ the Saviour that preservers frescoes by Fermo Stella and Pietro Ligari.
Just like Montagna in Valtellina, Poggiridenti also developed along the valley floor: many craft and commercial activities moved here. The economy of the town is also based on agriculture, farming and winemaking.
