Caspoggio is located on a hillock on the Eastern side of Valmalenco. The origin of the name is still in doubt: it probably derives from the latin “casa podii”, that means home of the hillock.

In 1816 Caspoggio became a Municipality of the district of Sondrio. Given its position, Caspoggio has always been a border town. One of the most ancient parts is the “Truna”, a group of houses on parallel rows and divided by a covered passage of about 25 m of length.
