The forge has operated for over two centuries: an artisan laboratory specialized and, although simple, equipped with interesting technological devices. 

An example of this is the ingenious system that generates a steady airflow that feeds the forges. This sort of "bellows" works thanks to the water falling into a carved log, that allows air intake, but prevents air from going out. 

In the underlying holding tank air, compressed by water, reaches a pressure that can be conveyed to the forges through a hose. 
The renovation of this forge carried out by the Comunità Montana Valtellina di Sondrio, resulted from the will to preserve a significant cultural heritage. 

The forge thus became a solid proof of how the simple technologies used in the past offered clever and effective solutions.
