The visit starts at the Museo Valtellinese di Storia e Arte (history & art museum), with its archaeological secon (including local finds and anques), 18th century clothing, paintigs, sculptures and jewellery. Castel Masegra was built in the 12th century and had defensive purposes. Over the centuries it became the residence and the headquarter of the several rulers of Valtellina. Castel Grumello was built by the Ghibelline De Piro family between the 13th and the 14th century. Probably used for residenal purposes, it is located in a strategic position and dominates over Sondrio.
