In Caiolo there is the only authorized civil airfield in the Province of Sondrio. It is also suitable for gliding enthusiasts and completed by in a first-class facility with a put and take lake, camper service areas and a 9 hole golf course.

Caiolo is a rural town developed on the confluence between the creek Livrio and the river Adda. Its ancient name was Soltoggio, but the name Caliolo appeared for the first time in a document written in 1024. Starting from 1200 it became a domain of the Capitanei and later, during the 15th-16th century, the powerful Quadrio and Salis families lived here.

Close to the Livrio creek, where a Gallic sacrificial knife and Roman coins were found, there is the parish church of Saint Victor, built in 1617 on the ruins of a Medieval church. In the upper part of the town there is the Oratory of Saint Peter Martyr (15th century) and in S. Bernardo the small church dedicated to Saint Bernard.

Moreover, Caiolo has the only authorized civil airfield in the Province of Sondrio. It is also suitable for gliding enthusiasts and completed by a first-class facility with a put and take lake, camper service areas and a 9 hole golf course open from March 1st until November 30th. Caiolo is also crossed by the Sentiero Valtellina, a path that is the ideal for relaxing strolls or bicycle rides.
